Tariff Consultancy Ltd (TCL) has now published the Data Centre Price Tracker subscription service every quarter since April 2007. The TCL Data Centre Price Tracker service provides a unique comparison of Data Centre rack space pricing across 14 European countries, 90 Data Centre Providers with over 200 price points; it highlights the changes in rentals over the period.
Published every 3 month period since April 2007 the Data Centre Price Tracker has highlighted the following five main price trends:
The TCL Data Centre Price Tracker shows that rack space rental pricing continues to be influenced by the market conditions in each country. Even those countries with relatively low average pricing have seen significant increases in monthly rack space rentals.
In Italy, for example, a range of local hosting and co location providers have lowered the market average of Data Centre pricing to around Euro 690 per month. However, according to the TCL Data Centre Price Tracker average Italian Data Centre pricing has risen by 32 per cent over the period.
In Germany, for example, the German Data Centre market also has relatively low average pricing – of around Euro708 per month as a result of a number of low cost Carrier Based Data Centre providers – the overall rise was 7 per cent over the period.
From the TCL Data Centre Price Tracker average rack space pricing in general has risen over the period from April 2007 to October 2011 from Euro 804 per month to Euro 883 per month – representing an overall increase of 9.8% over the period.

In each edition of the Data Centre Price Tracker TCL also provides examples of once off installation charges, cage space rentals and cross connect rentals and segments the Data Centre market by Carrier Based Data Centres (which are defined as being telecoms providers with limited alternative network provision) & Carrier Neutral Data Centre specialists (which are defined as being independent of a telecoms provider with a wide range of alternative network providers).
TCL also provides a brief outline of the Pan European Data Centre company which includes pricing from selected Carrier Neutral Data Centre providers which have a presence in more than one country such as the UK, Germany, France & the Netherlands.
