The Dutch Data Centre market is to consolidate its position as one of the leading country markets in Europe with significant Premium Data Centre space planned around Amsterdam and in other regional cities

A new report published by Tariff Consultancy Ltd (TCL) Data Centre Pricing Netherlands – 2012 shows that the Dutch Data Centre market – with almost 289,000 square metres of third party raised floor space available as of the end of 2012 – and is forecast to increase capacity by over 38% over the 5 year period to over 398,000 square metres of third party raised floor space available as of the end of 2017.

At the same time the average standard retail Dutch rack space pricing will gradually increase from Euro 733 per month (as of the end of 2012) up to Euro 772 per month (as of the end of 2017) an increase of just over 5.3% over the same 5 year period.

The Dutch Data Centre market will remain behind the UK, German and French markets in Europe. The Dutch market continues to see intense price competition with Data Centre providers discounted pricing and promotional offers for new facility space. Average Dutch Data Centre pricing remains relatively similar between the Carrier Neutral Data Centre and the Premium Data Centre segments.

But the Dutch Data Centre market has a wide range of new facilities which are being built outside the main Amsterdam area – which accounts for 51% by the number of Data Centre facilities in the Netherlands - according to a unique TCL survey of 78 facilities across the Dutch market.

And new Data Centre space is being built out for the first time at a number of regional Dutch cities which include Eindhoven, Delft and Utrecht.

By the end of 2012 average standard retail Dutch Data Centre rack space pricing is forecast by TCL to be Euro 807 per month and is forecast to increase up to Euro 885 per month as of the end of 2017. 

And the report finds that there is a healthy range Premium Data Centre space (capable of catering for power per rack of 20 kW) being built out by a number of Data Centres providers in the Netherlands including facilities such as - KPN CyberCenter, Interxion, TelecityGroup, Equinix and Previder – capable of catering for high density IT applications.

TCL’s Data Centre Pricing Netherlands – 2012 report provides a unique survey of some 42 Dutch Data Centre providers which consists of some 78 Data Centre facilities as the basis of the report findings. It provides average pricing – both by kW of power and by square metre - as well as by standard retail rack space. The report also includes details of the typical power bundles available, selected cage space pricing, power available per kW Hour and also selected the cross connect pricing available in the Dutch Data Centre market.

Finally, the report provides a 5 year forecast for average pricing, with average utilisation and revenue levels for the Dutch Data Centre market from the end of 2012 up to the end of 2017.
