About the report

The report provides analysis of Germany's Data Centre pricing, space and revenues based on a unique TCL survey of 46 Data Centre providers and 151 facilities.

The report, commenting on the trends, has been segmented the French Data Centre market into three broad categories which are defined below:

• Carrier Based Data Centre segment – is defined as being a facility which has limited IP & network connectivity and which is owned by a telecoms operator.


• Carrier Neutral Data Centre segment – is defined as being a facility which has a wide range of IP & network connectivity and which is not owned by a telecoms operator.


• Premium Data Centre segment – is defined as being a facility which can support power bundles of up to 20 kW per rack as standard.

The report features a 5 year forecast for the country’s Data Centre average rack space and square metre pricing, space and revenues from the end of 2012 to the end of 2017. The report contains 69 pages and over 41 tables and charts.

The average size of German Data Centre facility remains relatively low, at 2,510 square metres of raised floor space – mainly due to the large number of small Carrier Based collocation facilities that are scattered across Germany and lowers the average size. 

Germany remains one of the largest Data Centre markets in Europe, and is second only to the UK Data Centre market in terms of raised floor space, and is significantly ahead of France & the Netherlands according to a forecast in the TCL survey.

German Data Centres also are forecast by TCL to see an increase in average customer power over the 5 year period to the end of 2017.
