New speakers are announced for the launch of the 4th Mobile Pricing Symposium to be held this July at Cambridge University by Tariff Consultancy Ltd

London - 19th February - Specialist telecoms research, consulting & conference company Tariff Consultancy Ltd has announced the first speakers due to attend its 4th Mobile Pricing Symposium to be held at Murray-Edwards College at Cambridge University.

Three experts in their field have confirmed that they will present at the Symposium on key regulatory, multiple SIM ownership and Mobile Broadband trends. The speakers and presentations include:

  • Leading the regulatory keynote session will be Annegret Groebel, Managing Director and Head of Section, International Coordination at the Federal Network Agency, the German telecoms regulator, who will present on wholesale regulation and its effect on the European mobile sector. Issues discussed will include mobile voice & data roaming and Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
  • Carlos Valdecartes, a Partner at Spanish consulting company mmC Group, will also present on the implications of multiple mobile SIM ownership in developing countries. He will consider the reasons behind the growth in multiple SIM ownership and the actions a mobile operator could take to mitigate the frequent churn and "dustbin" SIM effect.
  • Stephen Ness, Head of Pricing & Planning at mobile operator 3UK, will present on Mobile Broadband services and whether it is likely that a Mobile Broadband service will replace a fixed line Broadband service, and provide an overview of new services available in the market.

"Held over 3 days in July (from the 22nd to the 24th of July 2009) the 4th Mobile Pricing Symposium will provide a unique meeting place between mobile operators and experts with new analysis on the critical trends provided specially by Tariff Consultancy for the event," says Margrit Sessions, Managing Director of Tariff Consultancy Ltd.

"The agenda for the Symposium reflects the current situation being faced by mobile operators worldwide," added Sessions. "There will be a special session devoted to the impact of the credit crunch and the worldwide economic slowdown on the mobile operator. We will examine low cost services for these times, and also analyse growth areas such as operator strategies for the development of the iPhone."

Over the 3 days of the Symposium, sessions will be devoted to regulation, services for the credit crunch, the growth of Mobile Broadband, changes in data and voice roaming pricing, multiple SIM ownership in developing markets and the latest trends for Fixed to Mobile Substitution. Presentations and speakers will provide a truly global perspective on these themes with an international audience from all over the world.
