TCL publishes SnapShot 30 looking at mobile pricing in South America

Published: Mon 14 April 2014

In this SnapShot, TCL analyses mobile pricing in Mexico and South America. On March 7th 2014 the Mexican regulator IFT found that America Movil fixed line subsidiary Telmex & mobile subsidiary Telcel had market dominance in Mexico.

TCL examines the mobile pricing in the Mexican market and how it compares with other market pricing across South America and finds that pricing varies significantly by country and by MNO. Selected MNOs, led by Movistar, are starting to introduce larger & all-inclusive bundles. But more often MNOs are providing small bundles of call minutes & SMS. Claro in particular provides relatively small bundles of data.
