With SnapShot 127, Telecomspricing reviews the changes that have taken place in the Myanmar mobile market, since the last Myanmar SnapShot (64) published in November 2015. Myanmar has been one of the last large Country Markets to experience the introduction of multiple MNOs with rapid mobile penetration taking place.

The key MNOs in Myanmar include Telenor, Ooredoo  and MyTel (a subsidiary of Viettel Group) launched in June 2018. Since 2015, the mobile penetration rate in Myanmar has grown from 40 per cent up to over 100 per cent as of the end of 2018, with the number of users increasing to over 58 million.

The rise in numbers have been driven by reduced rates for call minutes and mobile data and the availability of low cost smartphones.
